I love Utah. I love Colorado too, of course, but when I go to the Moab area, I start to wonder things like: How was our earth created? Who created it? How old is it? How do these big rock formations even exist? To me, the Moab area is a direct link to some unknown […]

Instead of totally giving up on work, I’ve been playing with fonts/text/images in Photoshop. Below is a collage I put together of my friend making her DIY wedding invitations. They arrived in the mail and looked very pretty.

Today’s photos are from an engagement session that I did in Littleton, Colorado. Tim and Kelly live in Massachusetts and just happen to be neighbors with a gal who went to college with me (I totally love those random connections between people!). The couple were visiting family in Colorado and I was lucky enough to squeeze in their engagement shoot after the family session. They were super fun to hang out with…anyone lucky enough to go to their wedding is definitely going to have a blast!

But I am REALLY excited for what 2012 will mean for Susannah Storch Photography and Chloe Pet Photography. Instead of editing images and writing blog posts, I have been organizing/streamlining so that I can focus on photography and marketing. If you guys have any feedback or ideas on my website/blog/photocart/promotions, I am always happy to hear it.

In October I packed up my photo gear and headed to Planet Bluegrass in Lyons, Colorado to second shoot a wedding for Chad Morgan Photography. Although I drive by the gates to Planet Bluegrass frequently en route to outdoor adventures and although I’ve always wanted to go to Rocky Grass or other musical festivals there, I had never actually been on the facility. WOW! What a beautiful spot for a wedding! Set far enough from the mountain road, against a river and a rock wall, complete with a silo (who doesn’t love a good silo?!), Planet Bluegrass is the perfect Colorado spot.

I am excited and honored to let you all know that another DIY project from my August 2011 wedding was featured today on Colorado Wedding Magazine Blog. Be sure to check out the blog post for some DIY inspiration and Colorado wedding planning info. And, once more, thanks to my mom and Rosa for pulling this project together. I REALLY appreciate it and feel very lucky to have had so much help with wedding planning from EVERYONE! Rob and I couldn’t have done it without each and everyone person that contributed.

After the raft trip I took in Utah last month, my husband and I headed to Moab to check out their Pasta Jay’s restaurant (no wait!) and Arches National Park. I had been to Arches once before, but had my dog with me, so didn’t really get in a whole lot of exploring. This time I did the 7 mile Devils Garden Primitive Loop hike, spending hours in the fresh desert air while thinking about Edward Abbey’s book Desert Solitaire and contemplating how on earth the rock formations were formed. Utah is a strange place.

A couple weeks ago my business partner Sara and I were lucky to spend the day with Rebecca and Eric photographing their Lone Hawk Farm wedding in Longmont, Colorado. Lone Hawk is in one of my favorite local areas–the farm country just north of Boulder and west of Longmont. It is so pretty there with […]
