Three Favorite Lyons Colorado Wedding Venues
First, happy 2019! I hope each and everyone of you felt peace and contentment this holiday season. I tried to be present and to enjoy the excitement of my boys. (I succeeded at times…but not every single day of their 2 week + winter break.) I am slowly getting into 2019. (It was a tough winter break for me!)
At any rate, back to the content at hand. I love Lyons Colorado weddings and Lyons Colorado wedding venues. Well, and Lyons, Colorado, for that matter. Below are my three favorite Lyons Colorado wedding venues, including some info on why I love the venue and images from weddings I have photographed.
Before you check it out, there are many reasons I love Lyons, CO weddings. It is close to Boulder and Longmont, which means that there are plenty of hotels to accommodate out of town guests (and easy to get back via Uber or a shuttle service). It is sort of in the mountains, but easily accessible to Denver and DIA. And I just love in general…there are so many outdoorsy activities in town and close to town, like tubing, hiking, and mountain biking. There are great parks and playgrounds. And Mojo Taqueria is a favorite taco joint of mine.
…So keep scrolling for the three best Lyons Colorado wedding venues!
1. The Lyons Farmette
I can go on and on about the Farmette, and I will for a couple minutes. I love working with Betsy and her staff. I love photographing wedding couples among the flowers and farm animals. I love the old Airstream that wedding couples have access to before their big day. I love the scenery–from the ceremony site on the creek/river to the big old fallen tree, the Farmette is one of my favorite wedding venues.
For couples, this Lyons wedding venue is great because you can tailor it to you. I’ve seen couples use the space completely differently to suit their needs and the needs of their guests. For example, I’ve seen couples get married by the big old tree in the lawn. I’ve also seen couples use the flagstaff rocks by the river. I’ve seen couples eat under the fallen tree, having a wedding dinner that reminds me of Shakespeare’s A Midsummer Night’s Dream (at least the title…maybe not the plot). I’ve seen couples eat in rows on other spots on the lawn.
And, I’ve seen all sort of cute, thoughtful wedding decor here…from decorating trees to the onsite antique tractor and pick-up truck…there are so many options for eager wedding couples!
Mainly, however, I just love the vibe of the Farmette. It is so happy and relaxed and joyful and easy-going…a Lyons Farmette wedding is always going to be a favorite wedding!

2. Planet Bluegrass
Planet Bluegrass is a dream spot for a wedding! They are booked with musical events all summer, so getting onto their calendar can be a bit tough. If you can do it, you will be rewarded with a beautiful venue that is full of options for making your wedding day memorable!
There are so many amazing backdrops for wedding couple portraits, bridal party formals, and family formals. I especially love the big rock wall by the wall, as well as the iconic silo. And so many spaces for wedding guests to explore…the s’mores area, the beach by the rock wall, the stage…
I also enjoy photographing Planet Bluegrass weddings because most couples put on fun little outdoor activities that range from croquet to a rubber duck races in the little river. Cocktail hour is usually especially festive at Planet Bluegrass because of the beautiful lawn and all of its options.
It can definitely get cool at night at this venue (I think most of the weddings I have photographed here have been late September/early October), so make sure your guests wear layers.
I definitely recommend going with a collection that includes a second photographer if you are getting married at this Lyons Colorado wedding venue…there is so much space to inhabit at this venue…a second photographer can really help capture many more images of your beloved guests.

3. Lionscrest Manor
Lionscrest Manor is on this list because it is another beautiful Colorado wedding venue. The ceremony lawn is gorgeous, with views that overlook mountains. The fountain and staircase in front of Lionscrest Manor make a beautiful backdrop for wedding day events (see the first dance photos below). The “shed” on the property is fun, and a cute spot for laidback/candid pictures. The second level above the dance floor makes for unique photo angles. And the rocky terrain about Lionscrest Manor is great for wedding couples photos (but bring sturdy shoes ladies!).
