Whether you are growing a baby in your stomach, just brought a new baby home, your kids are suddenly so much bigger than you realized, or your senior is about to leave for college — I'm here for all of it. I'm Susannah, a family and newborn photographer with nearly two decades of experience capturing Colorado families the way they actually are: warm, real, a little chaotic, and completely worth remembering. I specialize in relaxed in-home newborn sessions and outdoor family photography throughout Broomfield — no stiff poses, no stressful directions. Just images you'll love.
The newborn stage is over so fast. And the weeks just before — that last stretch of pregnancy when everything feels both endless and fleeting — deserve to be documented too. Many Broomfield families book both maternity and newborn sessions to bookend that entire season.
Maternity Sessions
Broomfield and the surrounding area have some beautiful settings for maternity sessions. Standley Lake Regional Park is stunning — trees, open fields, water, and mountain views all in one place. McKay Lake is gorgeous in morning or evening light. And if you want something with more Colorado drama, the mountains west of Boulder are a short drive and absolutely worth it for maternity portraits.
Sessions are relaxed and unhurried. You don't need a plan, a pose, or a perfectly curated outfit — I have a client wardrobe and wardrobe planning software available so that part is handled. You just need to show up.
Newborn Sessions
In-home newborn sessions are my favorite. The crib you assembled at midnight. The window with the good morning light. The couch where everyone piles together for the first time. I come to you, sessions move at your baby's pace, and I'll wrangle siblings and keep everything calm. Book during pregnancy — the sweet spot is days 5–14 and spots fill fast.
There's a reason in-home family sessions are my favorite: your home tells your story in a way no park ever could. The books stacked on the nightstand, the kitchen where everyone ends up, the couch that has seen approximately one thousand movie nights and has popcorn hidden in its crevices. It's all yours — and it all shows up in the photos.
There's also a practical case for it. Little ones can take a snack break without anyone packing up and leaving. A reluctant spouse can disappear for five minutes and come back. Nobody has to rush out the door looking perfect. You just open the front door and we're already there.
For families who want to be outside, Broomfield has some great options. I love Stearns Lake for evening light, the walking paths at McKay Lake for morning sessions, and Standley Lake Regional Park when you want trees, water, and mountains all in one place.
Either way, family photography sessions are fully guided and completely relaxed. I focus on the real in-between moments — the laugh, the pile-on, the kid who makes a run for it. Those are the ones that end up on your wall.
Somehow, suddenly, they're seniors. This is the year to document exactly who they are before everything changes. I've photographed seniors from Broomfield High, Legacy, Monarch, and Holy Family. Multiple outfits welcome, yearbook submission handled directly. Senior photo sessions start at $600, 15 digital images. Book by early summer — fall fills fast.
Have questions? I'd love to hear about your senior."

I've been photographing families, kids, babies, and weddings professionally for 15 years.
Before being a professional photographer, I've been a preschool teacher and an art teacher.
Currently, I love dancing in my kitchen, disco balls, the band Phish, hiking 14ers, running, rafting, my farm CSA, traveling, clothes, and all things photography.
I love and am terrified of mountain lions, and when I camp, I stay up all night listening for bears.
