Golden is one of those towns that looks like it was designed for photography — the creek running right through downtown, the foothills rising up on every side, Table Mountain keeping watch over all of it. I've been photographing Golden families for years and I never get tired of it.
I'm Susannah. Whether you just brought a new baby home, you're overdue for family photos, or your senior is about to turn the page — I'd love to document it here in Golden. No stiff poses. No stressful process. Just real, warm images worth keeping..
The newborn stage is over so fast. And the weeks just before deserve to be documented too. Many Golden families book both maternity and newborn sessions to document that entire season.
Newborn — In-home newborn photography sessions are my favorite. Your home is where the real story lives. I come to you, anywhere in Golden or the surrounding Jefferson County area. Sessions move at your baby's pace — time to feed, soothe, and settle. Book during pregnancy — the sweet spot is days 5–14 and Golden spots fill up fast.
Maternity — The Clear Creek Trail winds right through downtown with the creek, the foothills, and beautiful light in the late afternoon. Table Mountain has sweeping views that photograph beautifully. And the Golden History Park has a fun character with a lot of background variety for photos. Client wardrobe available. Most clients schedule maternity sessions between 28–34 weeks.
Here's the thing about Golden families: you chose a town with a creek running through downtown, trails out your back door, and mountains you can see from everywhere. Your home reflects that — and it's worth documenting.
In-home sessions are my first recommendation for families with young kids. The bedroom with the glow-in-the-dark stars. The kitchen table where everything happens. The couch that's seen a thousand movie nights. Someday your kids will want to see exactly where they grew up. Your home can give them that.
There's a practical case too. Little ones can take a snack break without anyone packing up. A reluctant spouse can disappear for five minutes. Nobody rushes out the door. You just open the front door and we're already there.
For families who want to be outside: the Clear Creek Trail runs right through downtown — paved, easy walking, creek alongside and foothills as your backdrop. Table Mountain is stunning at any time of year. And the Golden History Park has warmth and character that few outdoor locations can match.
Family photo sessions are fully guided, completely relaxed. Real in-between moments — the laugh, the pile-on, the kid who makes a run for it. Those are the ones that end up on your wall.
Somehow, suddenly, they're seniors. This is the year to document exactly who they are before everything changes.
Golden High School seniors have something most suburban seniors don't — a genuinely beautiful town that photographs unlike anywhere else in Jefferson County. The creek, the historic downtown, Table Mountain, the foothills backdrop — all of it makes for senior portraits with real character.
I photograph Golden seniors at the locations that feel most like them. The Clear Creek Trail for something natural and relaxed. Downtown Golden's historic streets for something with more edge and personality. Table Mountain when they want something dramatic with a view.

Golden family, newborn, and maternity sessions include a $300 session fee. After your gallery reveal you choose a collection of digital files and print credit toward artwork, ranging from $800–$1,500. Most Golden families invest between $1,100 and $1,875 total.
Golden high school senior portrait sessions start at $600 and include 15 digital images plus yearbook photo submission. Upgrades available.
Every session includes planning support, styling guidance, and a curated online gallery. And because I know a folder of digital files sitting on your computer isn't the goal — print credit is built into every collection so the images actually end up somewhere you can see them.
Book two sessions within 12 months and receive $300 off your second session fee. This is especially popular with maternity and newborn clients who want to document both pregnancy and those first weeks with baby — and with newborn families who return for a family session as their baby grows. Parents of seniors who add a family session while everyone is together love it too.
I'm Susannah, a Marylander at heart (um, crabs, Cal Ripken Jr., and Natty Boh hon) who has lived in Colorado for 20 years. I am also a mom, wife, cat mama, and (of course) photographer.
I've been photographing families, kids, babies, and weddings professionally for 15 years. Before being a professional photographer, I was a preschool and art teacher.
Currently, I love reading books, watching my boys play soccer, the bands Phish and King Gizz, hiking 14ers, running, rafting, traveling, and all things photography.
Also, I love and am terrified of mountain lions.
