Lyons is one of the most beautiful places I photograph — and I've been coming here for years. The St. Vrain River, the red sandstone cliffs, Bohn Park, Hall Ranch — the scenery does a lot of the work, and I love every session I do here.
I'm Susannah, a family and newborn photographer serving Lyons and the surrounding mountain communities. Whether you're welcoming a new baby, overdue for family photos, or your senior is heading out into the world — I'd love to document it here. No stiff poses. No stressful process. Just real, warm images worth keeping.
The newborn stage is over so fast. And the weeks just before — that last stretch of pregnancy when everything feels both endless and fleeting — deserve to be documented too. Many Lyons families book both maternity and newborn sessions to bookend that entire season.
Newborn Sessions
In-home newborn photo sessions are my absolute favorite. Your home is where the real story lives — the crib you put together at midnight, the window with the perfect morning light, the couch where everyone piles up together for the first time. I come to you, sessions move at your baby's pace, and I'll wrangle older siblings and keep everything calm.
Book during pregnancy — the sweet spot is days 5–14 and Lyons spots fill up fast.
Maternity Sessions
Lyons is one of my favorite places on the Front Range for outdoor maternity sessions. The red hills of Hall Ranch, areas along the St. Vrain River, and Bohn Park create a backdrop unlike anywhere else. Client wardrobe available.
Most clients book between 28–34 weeks.
There's a reason in-home family sessions are my first recommendation — your home tells your story in a way no park ever could. The books on the nightstand, the kitchen where everyone ends up, the couch that has seen a thousand movie nights. Someday your kids will want to see exactly where they grew up — and Lyons homes have real character worth documenting.
For outdoor sessions, Lyons has some of the best locations anywhere on the Front Range. Bohn Park is my personal favorite — river access, cottonwood trees, and beautiful light at almost any time of day. The St. Vrain River corridor is stunning in fall. Hall Ranch is perfect for families who want something more rugged and adventurous.
I also travel to Pinewood Springs and Estes Park for family sessions — if you want Rocky Mountain scenery as your backdrop, that's an option worth considering. Very few photographers make that drive; I love it.
Family photography sessions are fully guided and completely relaxed. Real in-between moments — the laugh, the pile-on, the kid who makes a run for it. Those are the ones that end up on your wall.
Lyons Senior High School is one of the smallest — and most unique — high schools in Colorado. And the seniors who graduate from here tend to be exactly the kind of people who don't want a generic portrait session. They want something that looks like them and the place they grew up.
Lyons delivers on that. The red sandstone cliffs, the river, Hall Ranch, Bohn Park, Picture Rock Trail — these locations make for senior portraits unlike anything you'd find in a suburb. And if your senior wants something even more dramatic, Estes Park and the Rocky Mountain National Park area are a short drive and absolutely worth it.
I photograph Lyons seniors in the locations that feel most like them — whether that's the river trail they've run a hundred times, the rocks they've been climbing since childhood, or somewhere completely new. Multiple outfits welcome, yearbook submission handled directly.
Senior portrait sessions start at $600, 15 digital images. Book by early summer — fall fills fast.

Lyons family, newborn, and maternity sessions include a $300 session fee. After your gallery reveal you choose a collection of digital files and print credit toward artwork, ranging from $800–$1,500. Most families invest between $1,100 and $1,875 total.
Senior portrait sessions start at $600 and include 15 digital images plus yearbook photo submission. Upgrades available.
Every session includes planning support, styling guidance, and a curated online gallery. And because I know a folder of digital files sitting on your computer isn't the goal — print credit is built into every collection so the images actually end up somewhere you can see them.
Book two sessions within 12 months and receive $300 off your second session fee. This is especially popular with maternity and newborn clients who want to document both pregnancy and those first weeks with baby — and with newborn families who return for a family session as their baby grows. Parents of Lyons High seniors who add a family session while everyone is together love it too.
I'm Susannah, a Marylander at heart (um, crabs, Cal Ripken Jr., and Natty Boh hon) who has lived in Colorado for 20 years. I am also a mom, wife, cat mama, and (of course) photographer.
I've been photographing families, kids, babies, and weddings professionally for 15 years. Before being a professional photographer, I was a preschool and art teacher.
Currently, I love reading books, watching my boys play soccer, the bands Phish and King Gizz, hiking 14ers, running, rafting, traveling, and all things photography.
Also, I love and am terrified of mountain lions.
