I still remember whispering happy birthday to my oldest son the day he was born, once I was able to settle down after child birth. I thought, we have a whole life to share together, and even that won’t be long enough. Pure joy.
Welcoming a new baby is one of the sweetest, most fleeting moments of life — and you can capture it in the comfort of your own home, without venturing out on a cold Colorado day. In-home newborn photography offers a calm, cozy way to document those early days exactly as they feel: soft, connected, and beautifully real.
Whether you’re in Longmont, Erie, Berthoud, Boulder, Louisville, or anywhere on Colorado’s Front Range, my goal is to create images that honor your family’s story while keeping the entire experience easy and stress-free.

A Calm, Cozy Way to Capture Your Baby’s First Days
If you’re expecting a baby soon, you might be wondering how newborn photos actually work, especially during those early weeks when you’re sleep-deprived, settling in, and not eager to leave the house.
This is exactly why I specialize in in-home newborn photography for families in Longmont, Boulder, Berthoud, Denver, Louisville, Golden, and surrounding Colorado communities.
Instead of packing bags and rushing out the door, you get to stay home—warm, comfortable, and relaxed—while I come to you and create beautiful, natural images of your growing family.

Your Home Does Not Need to Be Perfect
This is the number one concern I hear from parents:
“We love the idea of in-home newborn photos, but our house feels messy. Is that okay?”
Yes. Truly.
When I arrive, I do a quick walkthrough to find the best natural light—usually in the living room, nursery, or primary bedroom. I’ll gently tidy small things if needed while we are photograping (move a diaper box, straighten a blanket, shift a nightstand item). Do not worry–you don’t have to deep-clean, stage your home, or have a magazine-worthy nursery.
Your home just needs to feel lived in—because these photos are meant to reflect real life with your baby.
Helpful Tip: If you’re getting ready for your session now, you may find this helpful — here’s my guide on How to Prepare Your Home for an In-Home Newborn Session. It walks you through simple, low-stress ways to get things ready before I arrive.

Newborn Sessions Are Baby-Led and Completely Unrushed
Every newborn session flows differently, because every baby has their own rhythm. I look to your baby to guide the flow. If she’s wide awake and happy, that’s a great time for parents and siblings to interact with her. If he’s sleepy, that’s when I’ll focus on those dreamy close-up portraits.
We’ll pause for anything your baby needs — feeding, burping, swaddling, soothing, diaper changes, or a snack break for big siblings. Some of the most meaningful images come from those in-between moments when everyone finally relaxes.
There are no expectations. It’s completely normal for babies to cry or stay wide awake, and that’s okay. I’ll find ways to document your sweet family no matter what.

Natural, Comfortable Newborn Posing (Nothing Stiff or Staged)
My approach to newborn photography is simple, connected, and family-focused. I gently guide you into positions that feel comfortable and flattering, while keeping everything natural and relaxed.
Typical images include:
- parents snuggling their baby on the couch
- soft, swaddled portraits on a bed or in the nursery
- detail shots of tiny fingers, toes, lashes
- siblings meeting or holding the baby
- quiet moments in the nursery
- baby awake and curious or peacefully sleepy
There is no pressure for the baby to stay asleep or pose in complicated wraps. Your baby will be photographed exactly as they are.
The Light for Photography Is Often Better Than You Think
You do not need giant windows or a bright house. Colorado’s soft, indirect light — especially in winter and spring — creates the most beautiful indoor portraits.
Even a single window can be dreamy. And if it’s overcast or snowing? Even better. Snow reflects the softest, cleanest light into your home.

What to Wear for In-Home Newborn Photography
Keep it simple and comfortable. Families often choose soft neutrals, cozy knit sweaters, flowy tops or dresses, and solid colors with minimal patterns.
For your baby, simple works beautifully: a white onesie, a soft swaddle, or just a diaper and a blanket. Avoid anything too oversized — I want to see that sweet face.
You don’t need to buy anything new. If you want outfit guidance, I’m happy to help via text before your session.

When Should You Schedule Your Newborn Session?
Most families book during their second or third trimester to secure a spot on my calendar. The session itself typically happens within your baby’s first two weeks — but older newborns are absolutely welcome.
If your baby arrives early or late, we’ll simply adjust. Your session date is flexible by design.

Frequently Asked Questions About In-Home Newborn Photography
How long does an in-home newborn session take?
Most sessions run 2–3 hours. There’s no rushing — we move at whatever pace your baby needs.
What if my baby won’t stop crying? This is completely normal and happens often! Crying, feeding, fussing — it’s all part of it. I’ve photographed hundreds of newborns and know how to work with a baby’s mood to still create beautiful images.
Do I need any special props or equipment? No. I use what’s already in your home — your bed, your couch, your nursery, your natural light. Bring your baby, your family, and yourselves.
How soon after birth should we schedule the session? The sweet spot is days 5–12, when babies tend to be sleepier and curly. But I’ve photographed babies up to a month old with beautiful results. Book your spot before your due date so we can plan ahead.
How many photos will we receive? I typically deliver 40–60+ edited images from a full session. You’ll receive a private online gallery to view, download, and share.
Do you travel to Erie and Berthoud for in-home sessions? Yes! I regularly photograph families in Erie, Berthoud, Longmont, Boulder, Louisville, and surrounding Front Range communities. Travel to these areas is included at no extra charge.
How do I book a newborn session? Reach out through my contact form and I’ll get back to you quickly to discuss your due date, availability, and any questions you have.
