Mountain Wedding at the Peaceful Valley Ranch near Lyons. When I heard that Becky and Aaron were getting married at the Peaceful Valley Ranch in the mountains outside of Boulder, I was already hooked–I wanted to photograph their big day. Ever since I went on a mini vacation there with my family when I first moved to Colorado, I’ve enjoyed any visits to Peaceful Valley. And when I learned that Becky was from Vermont, one of my favorite states (Maryland, Colorado, Vermont, and New York are tops on my list), I was even more interested. And then I learned that Aaron was a rugby player (I played in college)–I was really hoping it would all work out. And, as luck would have it, it did.

I am honored that Rocky Mountain Bride featured John and Lynn’s wedding that took place at Boulder’s Chautauqua. The ceremony was on the lawn and the reception was at the Dining Hall. I am especially fond of weddings at Chautauqua because this is where my husband and I got married. So hop on over to […]

Happy new year to all my wedding couples, potential wedding couples, and any blog visitor. I just love the fresh start that the new year brings. This year I haven’t made any official resolutions, but I am eager to get back into a routine. This includes photography work, a new business launch (!!!), working out, […]

When I look back on this June wedding that took place at Boulder, Colorado’s Greenbriar Inn, I just can’t help but smile. I am so lucky that Becky and Bryan chose me to photograph their day–simply put, they rock. They are smart. They are into spreadsheets (I wish I was). They are laid-back, easy-going. Bryan’s smile and big guffaw is infectious. Becky is beautiful. They had banjo music at their ceremony. So many things that made me feel right at home.

So today I am even more excited to be able to send you to a Colorado Courtship’s blog to view images from a mountain wedding that took place at the Lodge at Breck that I photographed earlier this summer. John and Megan are an amazing couple. You can read all about them and their wedding at that blog post. But a little more gushing from me…I loved the engagement session that we did in Highlands Ranch…they were up for anything and Megan’s long hair sparkling in the sun was just to-die-for! John is from Maryland (Woot, woot, not that it matters!) and he has a great sense of humor (always a bonus). Their taste is great–Megan’s wedding dress was absolutely gorgeous, their wedding decor was well planned, and their “cake”–I was jealous of dining guests. And of course, the Lodge at Breck’s deck is just one of the most scenic spots in all of Colorado! Thank you Megan and John for letting me be a part of your wedding day.

Winter Engagement Photography
This Golden Colorado engagement session was taken in the Foothills outside of Denver/Golden in Coal Creek Canyon. Kari and Dave met up with me on a warm winter’s day (don’t you just love Colorado winters?!) to hike around the area where one of my dear friends lives. They brought their beloved pooch to join in on the fun, and for me it sure was fun. Dave makes me laugh and giggle so much; Kari is a lucky lady to have him! I enjoyed spending time and hiking with these two (plus a dog) outdoorsy people. (And, in case you happen to be wondering, no mountain lions were spotted during this engagement session.)

Keystone Ranch Wedding {Jason + Katelyn}
Katelyn got married on Memorial Day weekend at Keystone Ranch a couple of May’s ago. Their wedding has been featured on Summit Mountain Weddings website in the past, but I realized I have never shared it on this blog. So here it is…
One of the my main memories of their big day was the best man’s speech. Katelyn’s brother was friends with Jason and introduced the couple. He was the Best Man and his speech was amazing. By the end of it, I was wishing Jason was one of my best pals.
Additionally, huge props out to the venue coordinators. The wedding was originally going to take place at Keystone’s Ski Tip Lodge, but got relocated at the last minute. Keystone pulled it off without any hitches.

Just a couple quick photographs from a wedding earlier in the summer! It took place at the gorgeous Highlands Ranch Mansion. The bridal suite is amazing, the groom’s area is fun, the addition is spectacular. If you are planning a Denver wedding and aren’t sure where to get married, I highly suggest looking into this venue.

Ah, summer. And what more says summer than the Great American Road Trip? Last month, my husband and I bravely loaded up our 8 month old and 2+ year old to head up to the playground that is Jackson, Wyoming. The drive is about 8 hours, and we did it without any electronic entertainment devices. (Admittedly this is only because I hid that iPad so well from my toddler a couple months ago, that I still haven’t found it.)

And now for photos of the Fort Collins marriage celebration! In true Colorado style, the wedding couple surprised their guests by sharing their new status (married) with family and friends at a fun reception at the Pateros Creek Brewing Company in Fort Collins, Colorado. Great conversation, good beer, and bar games added to the happy mood.

Grandparents, getting ready, late night dancing…these have always been among my favorite things to photograph during weddings. But this year, I have also been enjoying the formal portraits a lot more. I used to stress out about them, but now I just try to go with the flow. Instead of looking for the perfect shaded location, I am more eager to play with highlights and shadows, or back-light people for even lighting on their faces. And (as always) I try to go through them quickly, without a lot of fuss. Let’s do them, try to get real laughs (perhaps thanks to the one joke that I can remember)(which I also made up), try to capture a bit of motion, and let’s get you back to mingling and celebrating with the most important people in your life.

I am looking forward to the wedding of this lovely couple later in the summer. I met up with them at a a park in Highlands Ranch on an unusually warm March day and had fun photographing them. The spot was a bit challenging due to a complete lack of shade and many suburban houses, but I think we made it work really nicely.

As a Boulder wedding photographer, I love photographing clients in Boulder (for a change). I had fun meeting these two wedding clients on a warm winter/spring night in Boulder, Colorado. The groom had requested a night engagement session, which is not my normal style. Since he was aware of that, I was excited to get out my portable strobes and have some fun…the only way to get better is push yourself!

Longmont Wedding Photography
Today marks the beginning of my 2015 wedding season. I am quite excited to head into Boulder to photograph a wedding celebration at Chautauqua. (I was married there and it is just such a beautiful spot–this is one of my very favorite places to get married.) I can’t wait to see Natasha’s dress and check out their foodie-oriented wedding.

I was excited to photograph Shannon and Michael’s wedding last March. They got married on a snowy day at the Fiske Planetarium on the University of Colorado Boulder campus, which is also where Shannon’s parents got married. The ceremony included a star show after the vows. The reception took place at a private residence in the foothills. It was a unique wedding that I thoroughly enjoyed.
