Boulder, Colorado Bat Mitzvah Celebration

Kaia had her Bat Mitzvah at Chautauqua’s Community House in Boulder, Colorado back in June. It was a lovely event, and another reminder how lucky I am to witness and capture such milestone events for my clients. (I may have cried during the service.)

Boulder Chautauqua’s Community House with Adventure Rabbi

The bat mitzvah took place at the Community House in Chautauqua, which is an amazing spot to have an event. Trees, old buildings with big porches, flowers, a sense of history that not every location in Colorado has.

It was a warm day in late spring. Since the Torah was taken outside for a portion of the Shabbat service, it was wonderful to have absolutely fabulous weather. Plus guests could mingle on the broad porch of the venue.

Adventure Rabbi’s Jamie Korngold added some unique touches to the bat mitzvah. The backpacking Torah was carried outside and part of the service took place in the Meditation Garden. This was amazing to me–I loved how every guest was clearly a part of Kaia’s service. And, the light was amazing. The Torah looked beautiful.

After the service, we took formal portraits with family members and friends to help remember the day.

And then it was time for more celebrating! A simple (but delicious) reception followed. It was fun to see how happy the guests were and to watch the children enjoy themselves. The younger kids were eager for the dessert of cupcakes and cake. The older girls enjoyed hanging out in various places at the Community House.

I especially enjoyed it when someone played a tune from the musical Hamilton which is pretty what I listen to 50% of the time I have music on in the house these days.
