Dear Reader,
I didn’t want to get up at 5 a.m. to head to Tabernash and Snow Mountain Ranch. I had a photo shoot there in 4 hours, and it is a 2.5 hour drive. I struggled out of bed and headed straight for the coffee maker.
By the time I got to Idaho Springs, I was finally fully awake and eager to meet my clients. I arrived a bit early to Snow Mountain Ranch, and was greeted by 3 baby foxes. How could I possibly location scout when 3 baby foxes were wrestling just yards from me?
I took several photos of the babies, hoping that a) mom and dad were around somewhere and that b) mom and dad wouldn’t attack me for showing interest in the pups. (I did give them a lot of space!)
My clients arrived, and they were dressed in their wedding apparel. Like in the same clothes they wore 10 years earlier to the day for their wedding ceremony! I love it when people are enthusiastic for photos! Their kiddos were dressed up in fancy digs as well, and their 2 dogs came along for the occasion.
I proceeded to photograph the family and dogs, doing loose posing as well sneaking in some candids. Snow Mountain Ranch has so many things to do–after taking photos at the wedding site, we headed to the adventure park so the two boys could get out some energy and just play. This was perfect for candid shots of boys being busy.
Of course, it was totally worth it to get up at 5 a.m. to head to the mountains to meet my lovely clients. 10 years is a big deal–a reason to celebrate! I loved chatting with the family–pumas were even mentioned, and I sure love me some mountain lion talk. So, the early bird catches the worm…or at least baby foxes?
xoxo,
Susannah

Graduation Photos – CU, High School, Etc.
I had the pleasure of photographing several CU grads (see top photo above) in Chautauqua back in April. I would love to continue this–if you know anyone looking for graduation cap/gown portraits along with a quick head shot, I’d be honor to be referred. These are at a different rate from family sessions.

Client Wardrobe for Photography Sessions
I have slowly been accumulating a client wardrobe for my mamas. I don’t care what you wear to a photo session, but if you are totally stumped, you can check out my options. I have a variety of sizes in flowing dresses that work well for maternity sessions and for newborn sessions, when maybe you don’t want to buy a ton of cute clothes. I also now offer an outfit planner program…it is sort of like a “Choose Your Own Adventure” for photo session outfits! Ask away.
(PS-This pregnant mama below is rocking one of my client dresses. This means that when I had her walk into the frigid river, getting the dress dirty didn’t matter! PPS-I thoroughly wash everything when clients are done with outfits! PPPS-Check out more photos and info about maternity sessions and what to wear, in this other blog post.)
