When Cassandra and Jennifer approached me about photographing their wedding, I was very intrigued. These two sisters were getting married at Snow Mountain Ranch in Granby, Colorado. On the same day. After spending time in Japan teaching English, both sisters had fallen in love with amazing Japanese men. And they all decided to share their wedding day. Hence the double wedding. Two “getting into dress” moments, two “first looks”, two “I do’s.” Their wedding also featured home-made Mexican food that was ABSOLUTELY AMAZING, a Japanese exercise, a Mexican wedding dance, awesome china that the mom scoured around to find, a fun photo wall, a sweet slideshow…it was a fun, family-oriented wedding tailored to the sisters. I am so glad to be a part of their day. Congratulations again Cassandra and Yuichi and Jennifer and Kazu! I’ve had fun reliving your special day, and I hope you do too.

I love, love the Lyons Farmette and Lyons Farmette weddings! There is such a special vibe to the place…the staff are incredibly nice and friendly, the scenery is gorgeous, the animals and Airstream are fun…I feel so happy and relaxed as I photograph events there. And it was no different for Alex and Jennifer’s Lyons Farmette wedding.

I learned something after I had my first kid: I should have gone out more. I should have gone out on long, lingering dates with my husband. I should have spent more of my free time with my girlfriends. I should have gone to more concerts. I should have gone on some epic trips to epic places. I should seen more movies in an actual movie theater. So when I was pregnant with my second, I knew I needed to get out there as much as possible. Weekly evening hikes with girlfriends? Check. Demanding some relaxing “me” time in the form of more frequent pedicures? Check. Flying to Arizona 6 weeks before my due date with my 16 month old son to be a tourist for several days? Check.

Finally, photos from a fall Wild Basin Lodge wedding!
One of the biggest changes has happened since my last blog post: my husband and I welcomed our second son into the world! The baby joined our family earlier in December, and we are still getting to know him and still figuring out how to run our household with two little boys just 18 months apart (I am not sure if we well ever have the latter 100% resolved!). But, we feel especially blessed this holiday season.

It’s been a busy summer full of Colorado wedding photography! From mountain weddings to Front Range weddings, I have been on the go. That, and add on pet photography sessions, caring for my little toddler, and having visitors and being a visitor, has caused summer to just fly on by. As I work on my latest wedding, I wanted to take a break to share some recent photos with you. Enjoy these images of the amazing couples I am honored and lucky to be a part of their wedding day.

Back on an absolutely perfect weather day in January, Jessica and Karl were married at Longmont’s Faith Baptist Church. Their ceremony was beautiful, and the reception area was transformed by amazing details that the bride and family put together–rustic tree trunks with bird cages, elegant candles, a lovely message on the chalkboard. (If I ever need design inspiration for a party, Jessica knows how to pull together a tasteful theme, that’s for sure.) These details pulled together by the couple’s loved ones made for one of the more meaningful send offs into a new marriage that I have witnessed. I too wish Jessica and Karl and happy and wonderful marriage.

Boulder Engagement Photography
I cannot wait until Alex and Jennifer’s Lyons Farmette wedding in just a couple more months from now. A great couple, beautiful scenery, and good food…it is going to be my kind of wedding! Meanwhile, I decided to share the Boulder engagement photography from their fall e-session at Chautauqua to tide me over. I am so excited for your big day you two!

Breckenridge Wedding Photographer | Mountain Wedding Love!
When I first met Tara and Kyle at a coffee shop in Longmont, I already couldn’t wait to be their Breckenridge wedding photographer. Tara was super energetic and so enthusiastic about her wedding, and Kyle was laid-back and seemed like such a great guy…you could tell it was going to be a great celebration of love. And months later, when the day finally rolled around, it didn’t disappoint. Tara looked stunning in her gown. Kyle looked happy. Tara, with the help of Marilee & Grace, had so many amazing details including sunglasses for the guests during the ceremony, a candy bar complete with “Big Hunk” taffy bars, personal photos decorating the grand fireplace, and even a penny farthing bicycle as a gift for the groom. The elegant rustic style fit the atmosphere at the Lodge and Spa at Breckenridge perfectly.

Amanda and Josh’s Rustic Wedding | Fort Collins Wedding Photographer
I enjoy being a Fort Collins wedding photographer–it is a closer to home than many of the great Colorado wedding destinations. And, photographing a wedding at the lovely Highland Meadows Golf Course is even better. I just love, love the red barn and the lake and taking a spin on a golf course for photos is always fun. More importantly, I love working for great couples. Amanda is one of the sweetest ladies out there–just positive, upbeat, caring. I am so lucky to have met her! Josh was just willing to go with the flow–totally laid-back and patient.

This photo session was featured on Mile High Bride a few months ago, but I personally wanted to share some of the images of this awesome couple with you. I had a lot of fun trekking through the snowy weather to get great photos–thanks Andrea and Jake for being troopers! And thanks for having great ideas on where to go–I love it when my couples give some input on where they’d like to do photographs.

If I had to have a wedding do-over, I would probably take a lesson from Nick and Anna’s Colorado ranch wedding. Rent a ranch in the middle of scenic mountains, have an intimate wedding ceremony, play lawn games while drinking Colorado beer, cool off in the lazy river that runs through the property, eat Italian food for dinner, hire a DJ and dance the night away, camp with family and friends…This was one of my favorite weddings EVER. Thanks you two, and congratulations!

When I watch large television and movie screens and the actors are standing on the edge of a skyscraper, I feel quite anxious. If the camera zooms from the top of the building, down the side towards to street, my stomach feels a little sick. When (or perhaps I should say the few times that I have) I rock climb (ed), I could go up all day (if my muscles let me), but coming down is a little spooky with the whole heights thing. But when I got the request to photograph a hot air balloon wedding, I ignored these little uncertainties, and eagerly accepted. I mean, an early morning ride above Boulder, Colorado while witnessing the love between two people–it sounded amazing.
