Colorado Baby Family Photo Session in Boulder

This lovely couple sought me out last December for a family photo session focusing on their new Colorado baby. They needed family portraits pronto before heading back to Georgia for Christmas. They wanted these images to show off their little baby and scenic Colorado. The couple drove all the way from south of Denver to meet me at Coot Lake in Boulder on a December evening. Luckily, Colorado often delivers gorgeous weather throughout the year and we had beautiful weather. (Warmer than several of my May photography sessions for that matter!)

Walking around Coot Lake and heading towards the Boulder Reservoir…we only ran in to one problem. This Colorado baby had no interest in being photographed! He was so mellow, but was not a fan of the camera and cried whenever it was pointed at him! (Luckily for me this was not nearly as big a problem as the time I did a pet session with a dog literally lunging at me to bite my face every time he heard the shutter click!) To compensate for this, we let him lead the session–walking around to change the scenery, taking breaks to let him relax, having mom and dad play silly little games with him. Instead of putting him on our timeline, we moved to his. Despite the challenges of photographing an unsure cutie pie, I think we got great photos of him.
