Last summer I met up with Crystal, Kyle, and their sweet daughter to take maternity photos.

Crystal and I brainstormed a simple look for this Colorado maternity photography session — mountains, long flowy dress and hair. From there, she did an amazing job styling her session.

Crystal’s choices centered around the gorgeous dress that she already owned. That dress! The color! And what a perfect fit for the golden late summer mountain grasses. She found a dress for her daughter that complimented the coppery, rust color of her dress. Her husband is dressed in a vintage shirt that is a bit more neutral, making it a fun match. I encouraged accessories for fun, and she delivered with hats.

I love these things that Crystal did to help elevate the Colorado maternity photography:

*It can be hard to find clothes with a baby bump! I love that Crystal shopped her closet and came across this pretty dress that works with a pregnant stomach.
*Also, the style of the dress is great — the long sleeves, v-neck, and cinched waist flatter all sorts of figures.
*Once she picked her dress, she searched for a complimentary dress for her daughter. She found a matching color, but the floral print made it different enough.
*Her husband’s outfit was more neutral. Having at least one or two people in more neutral (neutral colors, smaller print) is great.
*Accessories! The hats, bow for her daughter, boots for daughter helped to finish off everything.
