Lionscrest Manor | Outdoor Wedding Ceremony Photos
One of the the best reasons to have your wedding ceremony at Lionscrest Manor are those views. Directly past the ceremony lawn are stunning mountain views–a great way to celebrate Colorado, its mountains, love of the outdoors, and your love.
Michael and Nicole got married on a beautiful August afternoon. They had wedding guests build cairns along the aisle. Nicole’s brother acted is officiant–he was a pro and obviously (to me who has attended countless weddings) one of the best people for the job. Loved ones gave readings.
And the Edward Abbey reading brought tears to my ears. The rafting trips and the beauty I experience on these trips is best summed up by Abbey’s words, “Benedicto: May your trails be crooked, winding, lonesome, dangerous, leading to the most amazing view…May your rivers flow without end, meandering through pastoral valleys tinkling with bells, past temples and castles and poets towers into a dark primeval forest where tigers belch and monkeys howl, through miasmal and mysterious swamps and down into a desert of red rock, blue mesas, domes and pinnacles and grottos of endless stone, and down again into a deep vast ancient unknown chasm where bars of sunlight blaze on profiled cliffs, where deer walk across the white sand beaches, where storms come and go as lightning clangs upon the high crags, where something strange and more beautiful and more full of wonder than your deepest dreams waits for you — beyond that next turning of the canyon walls.” My goodness those words hit me at my core–perfection.

Another reason/perk of getting married at Lionscrest Manor is the bridal suite. Michael prepared for much of his wedding day at home while Nicole hung out in the venue’s flawless bridal suite. The large mirror, pretty furniture, fireplace, and wall of windows make it a great place to relax before the wedding starts and a great backdrop for getting ready photos. The grand staircase is also a beautiful way to make an entrance, and we used it for Nicole’s father/daughter First Look.
The property of Lionscrest Manor has wonderful photo ops. I’ve taken couples out onto the rocky terrain above the ceremony site for wedding couple photos. This affords more of those classic mountain views. The ceremony lawn is another great spot. The shade area provides the safe lighting I like for close-up portraits and offers easy access to the wedding festivities. There are also several outbuildings and then there are the mountains behind the parking lot–limitless options!
It’s always fun to see how each of my couples celebrates their story. I loved the bold, bright florals that Nicole chose for her wedding bouquet (and bridesmaid’s dresses). I loved the embroidery detail in Michael’s suit jacket. I loved their invitation suite. I loved the instant photos that guests could take and hang outside the reception room. I loved the hand lettering on chalkboards that told guests the menu.
Nicole and Michael’s wedding reception was fun too. The Diamond Empire band played Motown hits, Lumineers tunes, and many other tunes that got guests of all ages dancing. Out of town guests lingered on the ceremony lawn just outside the reception room, taking in those mountain views and cool summer air. The couples also set up lawn games near the fountain at the front of the venue and guests enjoyed those as well.
The couple and I sneaked away for sunset wedding portraits, which I definitely recommend if you get married at this venue.
