There is something really special about photographing a family in their own space — the backyard where the kids run barefoot, the porch where everyone piles up after dinner. This Lafayette family session is one of my favorites for exactly that reason: easy, real, and full of the kind of moments you want to hold onto.

About This Session
This family chose to photograph right in their Lafayette backyard — and honestly, it was the perfect call. Their son had room to run, they had props nobody had to pack (hello, bubbles), and everything about the space already felt like them. No one had to perform for the camera because they were just… home.
I always tell families: don’t underestimate your own space. A familiar environment means relaxed kids, relaxed parents, and photos that actually feel true.
Lafayette Family Photography Locations
Lafayette is genuinely one of my favorite places to photograph. A few spots I love:
Your home or backyard — my personal favorite for families with little ones. No travel stress, familiar surroundings, and the light in Boulder County homes (and backyards) is often gorgeous.
Waneka Lake Park — great open space, water reflections, and usually beautiful evening light.
Local parks and trails — there are wonderful green spaces tucked throughout Lafayette’s neighborhoods that make for relaxed, unhurried sessions.

What to Expect from a Lafayette Family Session
Sessions are loose and fun — think games, not poses. I’ll guide you through a few natural setups but mostly I’m watching for the real stuff: the laugh, the squeeze, the kid who bolts and the parent who chases them.
Sessions typically run 60–90 minutes. You’ll receive a mix of digital files and a print credit toward wall art or keepsakes.
Client wardrobe available if outfit planning is stressing you out (it doesn’t have to).
