Wedding Photography

December 19, Planet Bluegrass Wedding Photography {Lyons, Colorado}

In October I packed up my photo gear and headed to Planet Bluegrass in Lyons, Colorado to second shoot a wedding for Chad Morgan Photography. Although I drive by the gates to Planet Bluegrass frequently en route to outdoor adventures and although I’ve always wanted to go to Rocky Grass or other musical festivals there, I had never actually been on the facility. WOW! What a beautiful spot for a wedding! Set far enough from the mountain road, against a river and a rock wall, complete with a silo (who doesn’t love a good silo?!), Planet Bluegrass is the perfect Colorado spot.

I was excited to shoot for Chad and the wedding couple, Jaime and Jaime. (Yes, the bride and groom even share a first name!) In addition to the venue, the great wedding details made it extra special. They had croquet. Escort cards hanging from a line with clothespins. A vintage typewriter. A live bluegrass for the ceremony and cocktail hour. And a live Motown cover band for the reception that got everyone out there dancing! A lot of that is probably thanks to Calluna Events, a great wedding planning company based in Boulder.

As I listened to the speeches, I felt a part of something special. My favorite moment was when the father of the bride had married people stand up based on the years they had been married…from 10 years, 20 years, 30 years, etc. until the couple that had been married the longest remained standing.  I forget how many years won, but what a great idea to showcase successful marriages and love!

As always, congratulations to Jaime and Jaime, thanks to Chad for the gig, and enjoy the photos.
